TSGE Presidential Update Fall 2024

To the TSGE Membership,

I want to thank you all for attending the 49th Annual TSGE course this past September in Austin, Texas and making this the most successful and well-attended meeting in TSGE history. Our goal is to provide immense value to our membership by having expert Texan and national speakers elevate the content delivered at this course. Based on your feedback we will continue to improve the course and meet your needs.

I am humbled and honored to take on the role of TSGE President for the next two years. TSGE is a wonderful society that means a lot to me personally and does a lot for the field of gastroenterology in the state of Texas. Some of the initiatives we hope to achieve in the next two years are to:

  1. Expand our academic footprint through fellowship conferences, research grant opportunities, and fellowship program director involvement.
  2. Continue to increase participation in our TSGE committees including GI Women, APP, and Independent Practice.
  3. Deliver more robust didactic programs for our GI fellows, APPs, and Pediatric GI Colleagues.
  4. Honor our active and long-standing TSGE members with a new designation as Fellow of the TSGE. Be on the lookout for this in 2025!
  5. Maintain a strong presence as a society in the Texas legislature to advocated for policies that protect and promote the field of gastroenterology.

It is a special year for TSGE as we are coming up on our 50th anniversary for the society. We plan on celebrating this amazing milestone at our annual meeting next year in Houston, September 12-14th, 2025. Mark your calendars for this big bash and we hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Prashant Kedia, MD, FACG, FASGE
